The Flight Safety Department of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (the only authorized organization) who issues the Flight Dispatcher/ Flight Operation Officer License after completing the Training conducted by Civil Aviation Academy in Nepal. CAAN is the sole authority who organizes the Flight Dispatcher course and provides the license to the dispatchers upon successfully completing the training.
Flight Dispatcher/ Flight Operations Officer plays one of
the crucial parts in operation sector of any airlines company and a great way to start a career in aviation sector. Flight
Dispatcher’s basically makes all sorts of calculations for and aircraft to take
off and land form origin to the destination. Flight monitoring, evaluating the
weather conditions, planning the fuel, route and overall flight planning is
done by the dispatchers. They are the focal person for communication when the
flight needs to divert.
Flight Dispatchers work in the Operation control of the
company which is one of the emergency point of contact while the aircraft is on
movement.
So how to become a Flight
Dispatcher in Nepal?
The first step to become a Flight Dispatcher in Nepal is to
submit all the required documents to apply for the training to the CAAN and get
enrolled.
Qualifications to become
a Flight Dispatcher in Nepal
- The legal age to get a Flight Dispatch License: 21 Years
- Education required for Flight Operation officer training: +2 Completed (in any stream)
These are the only required qualifications.
If the candidate fulfils the requirement then he/she can
apply for the Flight Dispatch Training Course in Nepal. The documents required
for the training are to be submitted to the Flight Safety Department of CAAN
who is the responsible to conduct the Flight Dispatch Training and licensing

- Get Enrolled for the Training
- Complete 90 days Course Training
- Successfully attend the Final Exam (Pass marks 70 out of 100)
- Complete 90 Days OJT training
- Attend Oral test
- Apply for the license
Details:
After getting Enrolled, the training will be conducted at the Flight Safety Department, Sano Thimi (Bhaktapur). The Flight Dispatcher Training will be conducted for 3 months (for about 90 days). The candidate has to pass in all the modules from the FD/FOO course syllabus to attend the CBT final exam which will be held in Flight Safety Department (CAAN), Sinamangal.

After the completion of the course,
the candidate has to attend the final exam in which the full mark is 100 and
the pass mark is 70. If the candidates pass the exam then he/she has to do an On
the Job Training (OJT) for next 90 days in an Airlines or helicopter company in
Nepal. Upon successfully completing the OJT, the candidate has to go through an
Oral Test in which the candidate has to pass. If the candidates are successful
in the Oral Test then they will be able to apply for the Flight Dispatcher/
Flight Operation Officer License.
The candidate has to submit all the required documents
as mentioned in the PELR (Personal Licensing Requirement) to apply for the
License which will be Valid for 5 Years.
Renewal of Flight Dispatcher/ Flight Operations Officer License in
Nepal
The Flight Dispatcher License needs
to be renewed every 5 years. Active Flight Dispatchers who needs to renew their
license should meet the requirements as mentioned in the PELR.
The documents required to renew the Flight Dispatcher training in Nepal
are
A letter of Request for the renewal
of License to the Flight Safety Department (CAAN)
- Employment Certificate – from the company where the dispatcher is currently working (To Show the dispatcher is active and working)
- Route Familiarization training Certificate of last Five years
- Annual Dispatcher’s refresher/recurrent training (Last five years)
- Aircraft Type Training (Last Five years)
- Copy of Flight Dispatch License
After submitting the letter of renewal
to CAAN (Flight Safety Department) along with all the required documents, they
will call the dispatcher to bring their license for renewal.
Conclusion
To become a Flight Dispatcher in
Nepal, the candidate has to complete 90 days (250 hours) Flight Dispatcher Training
which is conducted by Flight Safety Department of CAAN. Upon the successful
completion of course and exam, the candidate has to do an On the Job Training
(OJT) for next 90 days. The completion of OJT will lead the candidate to an
oral test where he/she has to pass. Only then the candidate can apply for Flight
Dispatcher/ Flight Operations Officer license in Nepal.
