Himalaya Airlines brings 180 Chinese tourists to Nepal

On April 2023, Himalaya Airlines scheduled flight HIM 784 brings 180 Chinese tourists to Nepal. The Nepali carrier took an Airbus 320 to China and brought a fully occupied aircraft with all Chinese passengers back to Nepal.

As per the airlines, the passengers have come to Nepal as a tourist and the company further plans to bring 700 more passengers from China to Nepal. Himalaya Airlines has been operating Kathmandu- Kunming flights connecting Nepal and China for a while now. The airline has been a favorite for Nepalese and Chinese passengers from one place to another. Even operating several flights to China whether it be charter or a cargo during the COVID/ Lockdown time.

Himalaya normally operates Kunming flight on Thursdays and Tuesdays which could be either once a week or twice a week. The airline has four aircraft- all of them from Airbus 320 family. Three aircrafts A320 with 180 occupancy and another one being A319 with around 140 occupancy. The flight operated on 13 April 2023 was an Airbus 320 with 180 occupancy.

The 180 tourists that have flown to Nepal will return through Himalaya airlines itself. Furthermore, they expect to bring 700 more tourists to Nepal.

A Boost to Tourism Industry of Nepal?

The tourism Industry of Nepal is thriving to get back on its feet as before after the COVID impact. Since the impact of the corona virus, the arrival of Chinese tourists has been significantly low as compared to the timer before the COVID-19 impact. Only a couple of hundred or so Chinese tourist has visited Nepal since then. With Himalaya Airlines bringing these Chinese tourists to Nepal would definitely be a boost to the tourism industry of Nepal.

India and China have usually been one of the top countries from where Nepal receives the highest number of tourists. While Indian tourists in Nepal are increasing after the COVID impact the Chinese passengers has not been the same. Therefore, this initiation of Himalaya Airlines could be taken to the positive side of the tourism industry of Nepal.

Himalaya Airlines has also operated Kathmandu - Beijing flights connecting the capital cities of Nepal and China. The KTM - PEK flight has also been operated in 2022 and the airline might have plans to operate flights to Beijing soon.
