Nepal travel update for April 2022

 

Yes, Nepal is open for travel and tourism activities for April 2022. For the first time in about 3 years, it is safe to say that Nepal is fully open for comfortable travel throughout the country. Travel destinations are around the country are all ready to welcome tourists for different sorts of tourism activities. Not to mention, the tourism industry is more than ready to provide all sorts of travel accommodation to the visitors. 

Tourists arrival in Nepal, March 2022

A total of 42,006 tourists arrived in Nepal by air in March. It was 14,977 last year in 2021, so there has been a whopping incr ase of 180.47% increase in tourist arrival within a year. However, the arrival number this year is less than that of 2020 and 2019 with an arrival of 42,776 and 127,351 respectively.

The total number of departure in March was 34,036. On the other hand, there are only 431 tourist arrival from neighbouring country, China. The arrival has decreased by 64.30% as compared to last year. 

Travel entry protocols/ restrictions for Nepal, April 2022

Many has been asking questions like, Is Nepal safe to travel? Can we go to Nepal now? What are the travel restrictions in Nepal for April 2022? So here is your answer.

Yes, Nepal has is open and very much safe to travel now. It has been a while that the Himalayan nation has opened its doors to the tourists from different parts of the world. However, the covid situation was a roller coaster back then but now Nepal is pretty much safe to travel and open for visitors from all around the world except for few. 

  • The travelers who are fully vaccinated and provide the proof/certificate can get on-arrival visa in Nepal now. Incase if they cannot provide the certificate, the visitors are bound to provide the negative PCR report (like before) to enjoy the services. 
  • Vaccination certificate will not be mandatory for children below 5 years of age.
  • Citizens from Nigeria, Swaziland, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Cameroon, Somalia, Liberia, Ethiopia, Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan and Syria should obtain visa from Nepali Embassies or Missions Abroad due to covid concerns.
  • CCMC form have to filled for people entering to Nepal

Don't forget, Fully vaccinated tourist can get on-arrival visa in Nepal and no need of quarantine.

Department of Immigration, Nepal has also mentioned that there might be changes in the entry protocols if there are any new concerns or suggestions from Ministry of Health. Not to mention, all other travel advisory by Immigration has been revoked. 

Events are finally happening in Nepal, 

Big events like Echoes in the valley are finally happening in Nepal. Along with that Jatras and festivals are being conducted in full spirit. Not to mention the tourism industry coming up with different events and seminars. 

Apart from that, Nepal Tourism Board has also shared the pictures of tourists obtaining TIMS permits for different trekking routes throughout the country. That adventure tourism entrepreneurs are coming up with new products and activities to serve the tourists. Travel companies who have suspended their activities are back in operation. So yes it is very much safe to say that Nepal is open now for all sorts of tourism activities.
