Nepal travel update| March 2022


The tourism industry of Nepal is doing pretty much okay as of now and the number of tourist arrival seems to be increasing. 

February 2022 tourist arrival

A total of 19,766 tourists arrived in Nepal in the month of February. It was more than 16000 tourists who arrived in January. A slight increase in the tourist arrival can be taken positively for the recovering travel and tourism industry of Nepal due to the impacts of COVID-19. 

There was a total arrival of 9,146 tourists on January 2021 as per the stats by air. Now woth 10000 more tourists arrival in February as compared to last year there is a total growth of whopping 116.10%. The data is collected only from the arrival of tourosts at Tribhuwan International Airport by air. 

Here is a breakdown of tourist arrival for the month of February

  • Asia (SAARC)  - 7262
  • Asia (Others) - 953
  • Europe - 4813
  • Oceania -1073
  • Americas - 2051

As usual, most of the tourists who arrived in Nepal were from SAARC countries (Asia) followed up by Europe and then Americas.

  1. India: 5998
  2. USA: 3614
  3. United Kingdom (all together): 2217
  4. Australia: 1052
  5. Bangladesh: 888
  6. Germany: 642

Nepal has been receiving most of number tourists from India for a while now. 

Covid situation in Nepal (March 2022)

As of writing, the daily COVID-19 cases has sunk below the line of 100 or at most around 100 cases. So as of now, the covid situation seems to be in control at most parts. Almost all of the travel destinations throughout the country are now open for the visitors. Along with that, many guidelines are protocols are now relaxed and some even rested by the concerned authorities. 

Tourism entrepreneurs are coming up with new offers and ideas to contribute in the recovery of the industry. Along with that, airlines and travel accommodation are now in full fledge service, so visitors need not worry while they are on a trip throughout the nation. 

Most of the entry protocols in Nepal are relaxed and the tourists who are fully vaccinated can now easily access through the doors of Nepal by following some protocols as stated by the concerned authorities.
