Although, the tourist arrival in last month is nearly as twice in comparison to the arrival data of January 2021, the number did reduced by few in January 2022 compared to the previous month i.e. December 2021.
Nepal did received over 20000 tourist arrival in the lat few of 2021 and now with just over 16000 tourists in January is a bit lower than expectation. The major reason behind lower tourist arrival could be the rise in COVID-19 cases with Omicron on board.
Nepal did made few changes in the travel entry protocols and health precautions for the tourists arriving to Nepal from the month of January. However, Government did not go on to impose a total lockdown this time but just a few changes.
Meanwhile, the daily new COVID-19 cases has dropped than last few days. The covid-19 cases which had risen and touched the mark of 10000 has been fallen down to 3000 to 4000 as of now. However, it is still hard to tell about the covid-19 situation on the coming days but things look pretty much okay as of now.
Nepal is open for tourists with all the tourists accomodations and services in operation, however I would suggest you to get constant updates about travel entry protocols and safety precautions (incase if the concerned authorities make any new major changes) if you are planning to visit Nepal anytime soon.
