Calibration - Test flight at Gautam Buddha International Airport

The test flight at Gautam Buddha International Airport is planned for February 21 as said by Tourism Minister ( MoCTCA), Prem Ale. The calibration flight is set to be held next month as of writing. The International flights at this new airport may start from Buddha Jayanti, if the weather is favourable.

The calibration flight which was supposed to be held on January did not take place- reason being the bad weather. As per the concerned authorities, all the preparations seems to be have been completed and the calibration might most probably be held at the said date.

Gautam Buddha Airport is located in Siddharthanagar, Rupandehi district of Lumbini Province. The technical team of Aerothai will be carrying out the calibration flight to test alignments, lights and equipments and test flight will be held after that.

The under- construction works and the installation of the new equipments needed for the airport to operate flights might be completed as soon as possible. So we might see the operation of international flights very soon at the newly built international Airport at Rupandehi.

With the way Minister Ale has been going on with his works, we may expect the operation of Gautam Buddha International Airport at the said time period or at least as soon as the remaining works are completed.

Gautam Buddha International Airport is set to be the second International Airport of Nepal after TIA. The new airport which is located at Siddharthanagar has been in limelight for a while now. On the other hand, Pokhara International Airport at the west is another one to look at, which might come in operation very soon.

These new international airports are expected to create ease for Nepalese and foreigners as travellers will be able to take international flights from different locations. Many Nepalese are eagerly waiting for the operation of international flights at Gautam Buddha and Pokhara International Airports.
