Nepal did see a small surge in the arrival of international tourists last month than the previous one. Around 15000 tourists from different parts of the world arrived to Nepal with different motives specially for the tourism activities. Now with the second wave of the Covid-19 creating a havoc once again in Nepal, Government is forced to impose lockdown in several districts of Nepal.
It has already been about a week now since the third lockdown due to the second wave of covid virus. Movement of vehicles and people are strictly prohibited in many districts of Nepal including the capital, Kathmandu. There is a travel ban and transportation services is halted for now. Not only that, both national and international flights have been suspended in Nepal. Only the emergency and essential services are permitted to carry on their services and they need the approved pass by the concerned authority to run their operations.
Many tourists who were on there trips to different parts of Nepal before the lockdown might have been stuck. While many few have returned back, there might still be tourists who are stuck in the areas that have imposed lockdown. Some even might find it comfortable to live in the areas as of now but looking at the current situation with the increasing number of daily new cases of the corona virus, I would suggest you to get back to the places where you are most comfortable in.
For the tourists who are stuck in the areas were the movement and traveling is banned, the tourism board has come up their service of travel locator. So tourists who are stuck and facing problems to return back from their trip can now fill up the travel locator form from the official website of Nepal Tourism Board ( NTB)- www.welcomenepal.com. The travel locator is said to used to ensure the safety of all travelers. So this might help the tourism board and the concerned authority to track the travelers and be updated regarding their safety.
Since the international flights are all suspended, it will be hard for the tourists to return back to their home country at this point. Tourism Board, Ministry and the concerned authority should come up with the solution to create the safe environment for the tourists. So do contact the concerned authority if any of you are facing any difficulties.
