Pollution has been one of the top issues of Kathmandu. The city that is not just rich in culture and heritage but also filled with natural beauty has been dusted by pollution for a years now. The majestic views of the Himalayan ranges, the crystal clear views of beautiful city surrounded by the Himalayas and the clear blue sky is something that not only the tourists but the citizens of Nepal are missing for a while now.
With just a couple of months since Nepal went on a complete nationwide lockdown, the skies did start getting more clear in the capital. It did not take too long for the skies to get clear and the peaks of the high Himalayan ranges were visible from the capital. The social medias were filled with the images of those majestic and crystal clear views from the capital.
This might be the only positive part of the lockdown and the pandemic to be really honest. As the industries, factories, transportation and everything else were totally suspended, the quiet environment by the lockdown did sweep away the dust and the true beauty of capital were unleashed once again.
Now the actual thing here is that the pollution can be controlled in the capital. Kathmandu has been one of the most polluted cities and almost every tourists who visits Nepal has a complain about it. This has been a burning issue for a while now but which was once seemed impossible to be controlled, the lockdown has shown that it could be possible.
Now with the end of lockdown and with movement of people, transportation and other services, the usual environment of the capital filled with dust has slightly returned back. So this could be the best time for the Nepal Government to take the required measures to control the pollution in the capital. With pandemic and the rising Covid-19 cases, this definitely is not the top priority but the concerned department and authorities could most probably take a little time to work on it.
Kathmandu which is considered as one of the best destination for the tourists in Asia has few hindrance and pollution is one of them. The clear and pollution free Kathmandu will definitely add more beauty to this small but an artistic city and lead it back to its beauty which even took the heart of Prithivi Narayan Shah, who unified Nepal and made Kathmandu the capital of the nation.
The lockdown and the pandemic has definitely shown us all the beauty of the capital that not only the tourists but the whole Nepalese has been missing for a while. Well, sometimes the foggy layer of dust particles were washed out by the rain which gives the clear view of the hills and mountains in the capital but this time the beauty needed no rain to be visible. However, the pollution free Kathmandu might not lasts for long time as movement of people and resumption of economy has already taken place in Nepal.
