Nepal finally sees the arrival of tourists.

While the biggest festival of Nepal is clearing up the capital as people are leaving the capital and are heading back to their hometown and cities for the celebration, few of the international tourists have already started visiting Nepal this time. October 17 was the long awaited date when the trekking and mountain activities for international tourists were finally started. There definitely was a debate whether to start resume the trekking activities or not. The tourism activities as a whole did postponed and will most probably start somewhere in the mid November but the trekking activities have been permitted in Nepal from the said date, 17 October.

After the resumption of trekking services in Nepal, the Himalayan nation has finally seen the arrival of tourists after seven long months. Although foreign nationals from different countries arrive to Nepal for specific purpose with special permission in between lockdown but this is the first time Nepal has finally welcomed foreign nationals for tourists activities.

Around 20-25 tourists has been arriving at Nepal daily since the resumption of trekking and mountain activities.

Around 20 international tourists are arriving to Nepal daily. While the city tours might be highly risky in Nepal as of now, the main motive however is the trekking and mountain activities for the tourists. It is still not sure if the newly arrived tourists would be permitted for other tourists activities other than trekking and mountaineering. The actual thing here is, tourists have finally started to visit Nepal in a small group everyday amid the pandemic in Nepal. From a couple of familiar faces to some new faces,  the recent arrival of tourists to Nepal has created a hope and motivation for the tourism industry of Nepal.

Debate about resumption of tourism in Nepal on social medias

On the other hand, the social media engagements regarding the resumption of tourism is highly debatable as of now. While many have shown their interest to travel to Nepal amid pandemic, there are still many who would want Nepal to create as much safe environment as possible and lessen the spread of the corona virus and take necessary measures before restarting the tourism. Well, social medias are always a platform for a debate isn’t it ? However, many of them seems to be right as they want to visit Nepal but the recent covid situation is not favourable at all for the city travel or tours.

Moving on to Covid-19 situation in Nepal,

On 23 October, Nepal recorded 4499 new cases of the coronavirus and the rate has significantly increased in past couple of weeks. Now with people heading back to their home to celebrate Dashain, the busy Kathmandu ( highest number of Covid-19cases for a while now) will be quiet once again and will have fewer density than the usual. We will have to wait a few more weeks to know how the situation will change or if it stays the same after Dashain.

As of now trekking is open in Nepal and tourists have already started to arrive at the capital but there are some protocols which should be mandatorily followed by the tourists who will be arriving to Nepal for trekking activities. While many have cancelled their bookings for the October flights to Nepal, some have postponed their flights to November. If you are visiting Nepal, be safe and have one heck kf an adventure.
