Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal has released the list of trekking destination available in pandemic.

On 19 October, Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has released a notice listing out the trekking trails and destination available in the pandemic. Nepal Government has permitted trekking activities from 17 October now for international tourists as per decided while traveling for other holiday and leisure is still not allowed for foreign nationals in Nepal. Earlier, TAAN has issued a notice regarding the rules that should be followed by trekkers during their journey. Now a couple of days after the resumption of trekking in Nepal, the association has listed out the available trekking destinations as of now.

Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal which is the principal body of all trekking activities in Nepal has listed out 12 different destinations for trekking during the pandemic. As per the notice, the available destinations are:

Kanchenjunga Trekking Area

Everest Trekking Area

Langtang Trekking Area

Annapurna circuit trekking area

Mardi Himal trekking area

Dolpa trekking area

Humla trekking area

Manaslu trekking area

Helmu trekking area

Ruby valley trekking area

While the trekking destinations are limited this time due to Covid-19 concerns , the list still includes some of the famous best trekking destination with wild trekking trails and off the beaten tracks just the adventure that trekking lovers need. TAAN has also mentioned in the same notice that Annapurna Base camp and Ghandruk are from Jhinudada is closed by the local tourism management committee. However, they might include more trekking trails and destinations in the coming days or maybe soon if the covid situation gets any better.

While the letter was issued by TAAN for the notice of available trekking destinations to their members, they have also mentioned a couple of rules which should be followed by the trekker while going for a trek this time ( during the Covid-19 pandemic).

PCR negative report and the trekking permit both are compulsory for trekking this time.

It seems TAAN has listed out just the safe and comfortable destinations for trekking this time. There might still be other trekking trails where mountain actives can be safely carried out but their availability is yet to be known. TAAN has also mentioned about the trekking activities to carry out in a safe manner by maintaining social distance and of course by following the health protocols.

On the other hand, it is still a debate amongst the tourists to travel to Nepal for trekking or not during the pandemic despite trekking activities are now permitted in Nepal. If you ask me the Covid-19 situation is still not looking good in Nepal but you still wish to travel to trek in the high mountains of Nepal then please stay alert throughout your journey and have a successful and thrilling trip. If Nepal Government and the concerned authority could find any option available to head directly to the mountains and head back straight after the completion of trekking trip then it will be great for sure.
