18 October, On Sunday, The Immigration Department of Nepal takes a decision to shut down all visa related services temporarily for next couple of days. The Department has issued a notice regarding the temporary suspension of visa Services which they have posted on their official website. Except for the emergency services, all the other visa related services will be shit down for 2nd and 3rd of Kartik (Nepali calendar) which will be 19 and 20 October. As per the notice, a couple of staffs have tested positive for the Corona virus for which the decision is taken by the department.
As of now, the visa related services will be temporarily shut down for next two days and will likely to resume from 4 kartik which is 21 October. The short notice issued by the department on 2 Kartik (18 October) has not mentioned any further information regarding the news. As per the notice, the decision is taken for safety and prevent the virus from further spreading in the department. The visa services will resume three days from now but if the condition worsens then they might extend the dates for that.
However, the emergency services are still provided by the Immigration Department so in case if you have any emergencies during this period, you can still contact the immigration department to know about the situation.
Earlier this week, few members from Nepal Tourism Board ( acting tourism body of Nepal) were tested positive including the Tourism Minister for which the Department is set to be closed for a few days and now with few of the staffs from the Immigration department of Nepal testing positive for the virus, it clearly shows that the Covid-19 situation in Nepal is not looking good at all.
Looking at the covid situation in Nepal,
Currently there are more than 38000 active cases of the virus in the nation. In last three days, Nepal recorded 3700+, 4100+ and 3100+ active cases respectively with Kathmandu still being on the top spot with highest number of Covid-19 cases. In a total of 129304 confirmed cases of the corona virus till now, more than 89000 have already recovered.
