I have already mentioned about the Clandwander team ( a family of four) who trekked to the Everest Base Camp during the pandemic plus the lockdown. They have been sharing their story about their adventurous trek through www.nepalnow.org website ( one of the official website of Nepal Tourism Board). They spend months in the mountains and their adventure is really worth learning to. They have been sharing their stories in different parts. Recently the nepalnow website has released the fourth part of the adventure of clandwander to the Everest Bade camp.
In the fourth part of their adventure will finally take you to the time when they reached the lap of the world’s highest peak, as they finally make it to the camp. The thing that is quite impressive and motivating is that they made it to the base camp during the pandemic plus the lockdown when almost every service and facilities were suspended but even more impressive is that they made it to the bade camp with two little kids. Now how amazing is that, add it to your motivational list.
They have shared their impressive journey and written the article explaining every little details. While moving on the trekking trails, you will most likely stumble upon porters, yaks, and other trekking groups but as they have mentioned in their story that there was no one, the trails which used to occupied at times were empty, the buzzing Namche Bazar was quite and the tea houses, small cafes and lodges were all suspended die to Covid-19 concerns. They definitely had to face more challenges this time, the adventure of the Everest Base Camp got even to challenging.
However, their sheer passion, determination and passion finally led them to their treasure which they aimed for. They finally made it to the base camp which according to them was totally worth their hard work and the things they went through during their journey. On top of that, the place did not had any visitors other than them and they could thoroughly enjoy each and every beauty that the place has to offer. What an amazing journey that was, wow! Maybe life time experiences as they say.

If you are planning for the trek as Nepal will be open for trekking as soon from September October, then you should checkout their articles and stories which might come very handy for you as they have shared every little details with pros and cons during their lockdown journey to EBC. You can check out their articles in the nepalnow.org website. Apart from that, you can find clandwander in Facebook, Instagram and YouTube as well (with the same name). They have also shared their challenging journey of EBC on their YouTube channel as well.
Their successful journey adds a new hope and motivation for the tourism industry.
Now, this might be one of the most adventurous and challenging journeys to the Everest Base Camp but their successful journey gives a new motivation for not only tourists but the tourism industry as a whole during this pandemic where tourism industry is trying to get back to operational after a crazy hiatus. They have shown that trekking with the right set of mind with necessary precautions could lead to the successful trekking and mountain expedition. They were in the mountains during the initial phase of the pandemic and when almost every services and facilities were suspended. This definitely gives a hope for the tourism industry of Nepal that is aiming for the successful operation of Trekking and mountain activities starting just over a week from now.
Nepal Government is aware this time and the tourism services and facilities might not be limited for the trek.
However, Nepal Government is prepared for the operation of trekking activities this time. The tourism services and facilities ( almost all ) has resumed throughout Nepal and is aiming for more. So this time the tourists heading on for their trekking journey will not have to worry about the services and facilities. The government and the concerned authorities will be well aware about the tourism activities this time as they are working on the revival of tourism. Apart from that, with a couple of successful trekking expedition ( one with clanwander to Everest Base Camp another with Prince of Bahrain to Mt. Lobuche during the pandemic), it seems with necessary precautions and following all the health and safety protocols, trekking and mountain activities can be carried out safely despite the Covid-19 situation.
Covid-19 situation ( latest status in Nepal)
As far as the Covid-19 situation in Nepal is concerned, the daily new cases has increased its range and has crossed the 4000 mark of the new cases in a single day. The daily new cases has increased from 1000 + cases to 4,000+ cases in last few days. The situation in the capital however looks normal despite the city with most number of daily new cases. If you will be traveling to Nepal for trekking then take necessary precautions and follow each and every health protocols.
