Helambu is ready to conduct the covid safe mountain tourism.

In the north east of Kathmandu, at about 80 km from the capital you will find a different landscape zone and a beautiful place of Helambu. This is one of the familiar names in Nepal but has not yet been popular amongst the tourists despite being one of best places to experience short trekking in Nepal.

Now with Covid-19 on hand, trekking and other tourism activities are slowly gaining some visitors after seven months of standstill due to pandemic. Out of all, mountain tourism can be a safe activity to practice for the tourists with the ongoing spread of virus. Helambu  is all ready to conduct the mountain tourism after a long break. As per the concerned authorities, Helambu is aiming to conduct covid safe mountain tourism.

Helambu trek is one of the medium haul treks with the maximum height reached up to 3650 metres or just above that. The trek might be a medium one with just over 3500 metres but this trekking trail could be the best one for the beginners but the adventure is still there. The trek is also great to learn and experience the local mountain culture and their habitat. With just 80 km from Kathmandu, Helambu still provides a whole new environment and experience. When you are high up in the mountains, the only thing that you will see is the sky, clouds, high hills, greenery and beautiful mountain ranges and you will get to witness all if these from your Helambu trek.

Helambu is quite a familiar name in Nepal and one of thing that Helambu is famous for is the sweet apples of the place. Other than that, Helambu is a place of Buddhist and you will get to see some fine artistic Buddhist monasteries in this place and with that not only for the Helambu trek but it is also know to be one of the Buddhist Pilgrimage site. This is a place of Helambu Sherpas – an indigenous group who have their own unique culture, traditions, dresses and way of living.

Helambu trek is usually completed in 5-6 days.

Apart from that, you will not find a lot of tea house cafes and mid hotels as you ascend higher, so you might want to carry a foods, drinking water and trekking gears to comfort you throughout your trekking journey. The Healmbu trek can last up to 8 days but the ones who have been there has completed their trek within 5-6 days as well.  You can also join to other destinations via Helambu trekking trail if you do not want to return back to Kathmandu via same trail. So you might want to check itineraries from different travel agents for that.

Now with still over a month left for international tourism to resume in Nepal, domestic tourism is the only option as of now for the whole tourism industry of Nepal. When it resumes you can check on Helambu trek. You can find the routes and connect your Helambu trek with other accessible destination.

Well next time, make sure you visit this naturally and culturally beautiful place- make Helambu your next destination or if you are the newbie in trekking, Helambu trek could be your best option for your first trek in Nepal.
