Little after the resumption of domestic and international flights, government has decided to resume the tourism in Nepal starting with trekking and mountaineering activities. With the news, government intends on lifting traveling for foreign nationals to Nepal as the trekking would open for international tourist as well. However, the real question was, Are Tourists ready to travel to Nepal. Well now it seems, they are ready as people have already to Nepal as a handful of international tourists have already started booking their tickets for the international flights to Nepal. While many have booked flight tickets to Nepal, some have even shown interest on the available tour packages. (Source : tourism mail)

Moving on, many foreign nationals might have a slight issue related to visa services as of now. Before the pandemic, Nepal used to provide visa on arrival for most of the countries but it is different now. The on arrival visa is currently suspended in Nepal due to Covid-19 concerns. So anyone traveling to Nepal after the resumption of tourism should be aware about this new rule. Foreign nationals traveling to Nepal should consult with the respective Nepali Embassies for the visa purposes. Tourism status in Nepal (update).

As of the status of tourism in Nepal, the tourist infrastructures and services are slowly being resumed in Nepal. Hotels, Travel agents and restaurants are already in action as the government of Nepal has already permitted for it. So there might not be a huge issue regarding the tourism services or international tourists during their visit to Nepal. On the other hand, government had already permitted to resume the domestic flights in Nepal and also the long distance public transportation. So traveling for one place to another inside the territory of Nepal might not be a huge issue with domestic flights on board. As far as long distance travel inside Nepal, I would suggest you to take domestic flights rather than public transportation because domestic flight might be more safe as they have strict protocols of only flying the PCR negative passengers. On top of that, all tourist infrastructures and services will be carried out by following all the safety and health protocols as mentioned by the government of Nepal. Domestic flights and Travel agents have already started working on tour packages for both International and domestic tourists.

International flights to Nepal (update).

It has nearly been a month since the resumption of international flights to Nepal from the start of September. Since then, the number of international flights to Nepal has increased. Now with Nepal to open for tourism from 17 October 200, it would be no surprise to see the additional number of flights and maybe new airlines flying to Nepal in coming days. As of now, the international flights currently being operated in Tribhuwan International Airport, Nepal are Qatar Airways, Cathay Dragon, Fly Dubai, Malindo Air, Air Arabia, Silk Air and a couple more with two International airlines from Nepal Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines.

It seems that tourism in Nepal will finally be getting back its grip with the resumption of trekking and mountain activities. As per the tourism stats of Nepal (2019), majority of the tourists who travelled to Nepal for holiday purposes followed by the pilgrimage tourism and at third are the tourists who visited Nepal for trekking and mountaineering. So there is no doubt that trekking definitely is one of the major adventure sports in Nepal for the international tourists. On the other hand trekking seems to be one of the safest tourist activity as of now due to Covid-19 concerns. Apart from that, government  has not decided about the resumption of other tourist activities. While many tourism associations and agencies have urged the government to resume the respective tourism activities but the government is yet to come up with the decision.

Domestic tourism has already started to gear up in Nepal amid the Covid-19 concerns and now the international tourists seems to take a keen interest on traveling to Nepal when the country opens for tourism. However, the Covid-19 situation has not improved yet but it has not gone to worse either. So make your mind and prepare yourself before you book your tickets to Nepal.
