Kayaking in Nepal, the utmost thrill of water sports.

Nepal maybe known to the world as a home of mountains but this Himalayan nation has also got so many fast flowing rivers that creates a wild adventure of water adventure sports. Nepal is known to be on of the best for water sports like rafting and kayaking. Rafting, Bungy Jumping and Mountaineering are some of the famous adventure sports in Nepal. These adventure sports also covers different other tourist activities throughout the trip. Rafting is a widely popular adventure sports in Nepal both among the domestic and international tourists. Some of the fast flowing rivers with high grades and huge rapids will give you a thrill of a lifetime and some even are too riskier at times. Now what is more thrilling than that is Kayaking.

Rafting and kayaking might feel similar but trust me they are different as kayaking gives a whole new experience than rafting. It is a solo adventure unlike rafting which involves a team. The rafting team at most times will involve a guide throughout the trip but kayaking is all about a single person. This is one of the major reason that only the well experienced people are allowed for kayaking. Just a single person inside a kayak paddling through the fast flowing rivers, just imagine the thrill it provides. Nepal does not need introduction for the members of international paddling community or anyone who is massively involved in water adventure sports when it comes to Kayaking. With thousands of rivers flowing beneath the high mountains, Nepal already is one of the ultimate destination for Kayaking.

If you are looking for a top challenge, Kayaking is the one for you that will make you feel your adrenaline rush through your veins

Kayaking is mostly performed in five different fast flowing rivers in Nepal Kali Gandaki, Marsyangdi, Seti, Bhotekoshi, Trishuli, out of which Trishuli with medium rapids is suitable for beginners. When we talk about the fast flowing rivers then it definitely involves the white water kayaking. As much as white water rafting in Nepal is considered to be one of the best, the white water kayaking is no less.  Kayaking is performed in the same rivers along with rafting but both provides different experience. However, Kayaking for me is the most adventurous and challenging. If you are looking for that adrenaline rush then trust me, Kayaking is the one for you but you should know the drill before you head on for one. Kayaking in the fast flowing rivers of Nepal that has class IV or more rapids is risky and challenging at times.

Where to book tickets and also find the best itineraries for kayaking in Nepal.

Now if you are already ready for Kayaking in Nepal then the only thing that is left is to prepare your itinerary and book your tickets. There are several travel agents in Nepal where you can book your tickets for kayaking. Most of the travel agents are located inside the Kathmandu valley, so you might need to have a short trip before you reach at your kayaking destination from there. Different travel agents have their own unique itineraries and similar pricing ( most of the times) unless they combine the package.  with other tourist activities. However, I would recommend you to check the official website of Paddle Nepal team (paddlenelal.com). The website includes all the information regarding Rafting, Kayaking, Canyoning. You can all find the detail itineraries along with the pricing details about all of these activities that are operated by the company and you can also book your tickets from the site. The information and itineraries provided in the website regarding the water sports might come very handy for your trip.

Water sports and other tourist activities in Nepal (September update)

As of now, the water adventure sports are currently suspended in Nepal for both international as well as domestic tourists due to Covid-19 concerns. While the travel ban for foreign nationals to Nepal might be lifted from 17 October 2020, the government of Nepal has not taken any decision regarding the water sports and other adventure activities other than trekking and mountaineering. However, Nepal Association of Rafting Agencies ( NARA) has written a letter regarding the resumption of the water sports in Nepal. Government is yet to come up with the decision regarding the water sports in Nepal. On the other hand, the concerned authorities are planning for Travel Mart in different Provinces of Nepal with specific themes. The detail information and update regarding the tourism in Nepal might arrive from the early weeks of October.
