Air travel in Nepal : all commercial flights suspension extended till 21 July 2020

The air travel in Nepal is further suspended till 21st July 2020.  The governing body, CAAN ( Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal) published an urgent notice for the extension of suspension period of Domestic and  International commercial flights on 1st July 2020.  However, Rescue flights, Freighter flights and the flights for medical supplies can be made but requires special permission from CAAN as before. The country’s National Carrier, Nepal Airlines has made  several rescue  flights  throughout the pandemic or more precisely the lockdown period to bring back the students and people to Nepal who were stuck different parts of the world.  A couple of flights were made to China to bring medical supplies as well.
Previously, air travel was suspended till July 5 amid corona virus pandemic. The suspension is extended for 15 days more as there seems no way to move ahead from this pandemic. Government of Nepal has continued the suspension of the Domestic and International commercial flights since the lockdown throughout the country except for the chartered flights with permission from CAAN. The cure for the virus is not found yet. Several tests were made in a hope to find a vaccine for the virus but none of them worked as a proper cure. The number of people affected by the virus keeps on increasing day by day though  thousands recover from it. If the situation goes on like this in the upcoming days, the suspension is likely to be continued. So until we find a proper plan to tackle this virus, there is a very low chance to start the air travel anytime soon.
